COLLABORATIVE ART PROJECT
To artists and friends,
My name is Katelyn Gravel. I’m a student at FGCU. Me and my Foundations
of Civic Engagement partner, Derrick Brady, have been working on this
project called the Collaborative Arts Experiment. We have been planning and planning and have
finally set the dates and location for upcoming events! My goal is to get artists of every medium working together to create
and inspire something new.
We are holding a Call to Artists event:
At Nita's Sweet Bean Cafe March 7th at 3pm.
This event will give artists an opportunity to meet and share their arts with the community as well as
provide more information about the Collaborative Arts Experiment. If you sell your art bring it! If you like to perform
poetry, music, dance, theater, come prepared to share! If you just have a love for the arts and want to observe, sit back
and have a cup of coffee. There is room for everyone!
What is the Collaborative Arts Experiment? It is an event
for the artist within each of us. At a meeting: Held Sunday, March 14th at Nita's Sweet Bean Cafe 6:30pm. Each
artist will be randomly put into smaller groups. Each group will be working with a disabled artists from the Arts in Health Care program. The artists will then be given a prompt or theme
at which they will have one week to collaborate and create a final piece, whether it be performance, visual art, film,
dance, music or mixed media, which they will then present as a group at the Collaborative Arts Experiment Event:
Held March 21st At Nita’s Sweet Bean Cafe 6:30pm.
All students: If you need community service hours please contact me to find out more info. This event does count toward
your community service hours if you participate.
The event will
be open to the public, bringing arts into the community and community into the arts, it will bring awareness to the importance
of the arts and community as well as Arts in Healthcare. There will be raffles, prizes, and food for all guests! All
proceeds go to the Arts in Health Care program. Whatever is produced through the experiment will also be donated.
We
will be collecting donations of anything involving the arts (i.e. paints, paint brushes, art supplies, paper, notebooks, musical instruments, music,
books, costumes, masks, etc.)as well as any monetary donations at anytime, just contact me if you would like to donate
outside of the the events. We are also looking for local businesses to promote, that would be willing to donate items
to raffle off to our guests. I'm open to any creative fund raising ideas, as this is a student project that started with
as a small idea that I'm trying to make bigger!
If you have any more questions please feel free
to send me an e-mail. If you know anyone who would be interested in this event please forward this e-mail or connect
them to me. We hope to see you at the events! Thanks to everyone supporting our cause and the arts.
